IPES-Food is an independent panel of experts with a mission to promote transition to sustainable food systems around the world. Since 2015, IPES-Food has shaped the debate on global food system reform through scientific reports & detailed policy recommendations.

With experts from 18 countries across 5 continents, the panel brings together ground-breaking thinkers on global food systems.The panel is co-chaired by Olivier De Schutter, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, and Olivia Yambi, nutritionist and former UNICEF representative to Kenya.

Comprising environmental scientists, development economists, nutritionists, agronomists, & sociologists, as well as experienced practitioners from civil society & social movements, the panel takes a systemic approach that recognizes the complex & interconnected nature of challenges in food systems, & the power relations that shape decision-making.

With a track record of co-constructing solutions with a wide range of food system actors, IPES-Food takes a democratic approach to knowledge that values cutting-edge science while recognizing the importance of experiential, indigenous & traditional knowledge.

IPES-Food does not accept funding from governments or corporations, allowing the panel to deliver independent analysis that addresses the most pressing questions.
