FCEN federates 30 Conservancies, established in nearly all the French regions. Their task is to find the way to improve knowledge, protection, management and public awareness about natural and semi-natural sites of all kinds that are present in the country. They are especially active in implementing measures linked to the Natura 2000 network. FCEN also operates the French Mire Resource Centre (Pôle-relais tourbières) devoted to mires and wetlands, located on the foot of the Jura Mountains.
